<![CDATA[Letter for Antonio's Angelversary - Feb. 21, 2015]]>Tue, 03 Mar 2015 07:27:48 GMThttp://justice4josiah.org/blog/letter-for-antonios-angelversary"Hello, my name is Jeanne Viau.

I met and got to know Tony when Angelique was in kindergarten, and I was her teacher at Trace Elementary School.

Tony often took Angelique to school and picked her up throughout the school year. Both Tony and Angelique were always happy together. They were always excited to see each other at pick up time. Tony was a caring, loving, and proud dad. He would always greet her with a warm smile. She would give him a hug. Tony and I frequently talked after school.

He always asked how I was and how Angelique was doing. He was friendly, polite, and had a very quiet, reserved, and gentle demeanor. I always sensed a wonderful and positive relationship between the two. I am so saddened that Angelique will grow up without Tony. He was a devoted Best wishes and love for tomorrow."

Justice for Josiah: One Year Anniversary of Antonio Guzman Lopez’s Death
Saturday February 21st, 2-5pm
Raymond Bernal Park
7th St & Hedding St
San Jose, CA 95112

SAN JOSE - On Saturday, February 21st Antonio Guzman Lopez's family is calling on the community to join them in Raymond Bernal Park in memory of the one year anniversary of Antonio's death. Antonio was fatally shot by SJSUPD Sgt. Mike Santos on February 21st, 2014, leaving behind a wife, Laurie Valdez, a ten year old stepdaughter, Angelique, and a four year old son, Josiah. For the past year the family has campaigned for "Justice for Josiah” and a more critical investigation into his death, but Antonio’s killing remains officially classified as a “justifiable homicide."

The Saturday gathering will be a family-friendly event with food, face painting, and crafts. There will be a special presentation for Josiah and Angelique, as well as time to share stories about who Antonio was, celebrate his life, connect with other families who have lost loved ones to police violence, and reflect on the state of justice in our community.
